Getting to Christ Church, UCA and the station
Barton is the council ward on the east and south sides of Canterbury, just outside the old city walls. Christ Church University’s main campus on North Holmes Road and UCA Canterbury on New Dover Road are both inside it, so most of the houses listed here are a short walk from lectures. Canterbury East station is in Barton too, with trains to London Victoria and Dover Priory. The University of Kent is about 1.7 miles away, on the other side of town.

A bit of history
Two of the three parts of Canterbury’s UNESCO World Heritage Site are in Barton. St Augustine’s Abbey was founded in 598, and St Martin’s Church on North Holmes Road is the oldest church in the English-speaking world still in use. The cathedral is the third part. Along Old Dover Road is the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, home of Kent County Cricket Club.
