Moving In & Keys

 

Your keys will be available for collection from our Canterbury office from the start date of your tenancy. They can be collected during our normal working hours which are 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Please note: We will also be open on Saturday 12th, Saturday 19th September and Saturday 26th September until 15:00.

Our office address is: 58 Northgate, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 1BB. There is 2hr free parking available in Sainsburys, which is about a one-minute walk from the office. COVID-19

In order to avoid queues and people gathering in the office, we’re asking that where practically possible, just one person from your group collects everyone’s keys. Please try to let us know when you’ll be coming in, so that we can pencil you into the diary and make sure everything is ready for you, to avoid any delays.

Please ensure that you have a facemask ready.

Once the keys have been collected from the office and you’ve had a chance to move your belongings in, we’ll send one of our team members to the property (preferably on the same day). This is so we can run through some important house information with you and you can ask any initial house-related questions. Please note that we can only do this with the first person collecting their key. Cleaning, Maintenance & Inventory

Your Landlord is currently in the process of having your new house checked over and completing any outstanding maintenance works that may be required. Once this has been done, the property will have a full, professional clean. This has been booked in for the week before your move in date, so it will still be clean and ready for when you move in.

Please note: If you know that you’re not moving in until later in September, please let us know ASAP so that we can delay the cleaning, which would ensure it’s perfectly clean for when you do eventually collect the keys.

Your official photographic inventory will be completed just after the cleaning and before you move in, so you can be sure it’s accurate. In the unlikely event that you notice anything not stated on the inventory, you can use the app (more details on that when you receive the inventory) to upload your findings and ensure it’s logged for future reference.

Please note: You have 7 days upon receiving the inventory and moving in, to check through it and upload any of your findings. Gardens & Reporting Issues

If you’re living in one of our managed properties where your Landlord provides a gardening service, please note that it is completed periodically during the summer months. If the garden is not completely tidy upon your arrival, it’s likely that it’s due for a visit and so will be tidied up shortly after you move in.

Despite your Landlord’s best efforts, it’s possible that you may discover an issue or two upon moving in that wasn’t picked up or missed by the summer contractors and cleaners. In this case, please let us know about it and we will ensure it’s sorted out as soon as practically possible. Rent

Please ensure that your rent is paid before collecting your keys. Rent should be paid in the usual way, which is via bank transfer using the same details that you already have for us.

Alternatively, if you’re paying termly in line with your student loans, please let us know so that we can update your accounts. Passport/ID Check

If anyone in your group hasn’t been into the office to have their passport copied in line with the new Government Right to Rent checks, this’ll need to be done before collecting your keys (can be done at the same time). Outstanding Paperwork & Payments

Please note that if you or any of your group have any paperwork or payments outstanding, you will not be able to collect keys and move in. So that we can make sure you’ve all settled in well and you are happy, that everything’s OK in your property. We’ll arrange a meeting with you, once everyone has moved in. This’ll give you the opportunity to ask us any questions you might have or to discuss anything you’re not sure about. Feel free to ask questions about your property or just general University life – as we want to make sure you’re making the most of your Uni experience!
