Summer’s here and while it’s great to while away beautiful days on the balcony or in your local park, we know that sometimes you just need to get away. Days in the countryside, camping trips, visiting relatives out of town… sounds wonderful, right? But if you, dear city-dweller, like me, possess personal transport only of the two-wheeled variety, you’re probably already wondering how on earth you’re going to get to your chosen beautiful, yet remote, destination – let alone transport overnight gear, picnic basket, tent, swimming things, flowers for you grandmother, etc., etc. (delete as appropriate).
Whether you’re in London or Paris, Berlin or Barcelona, we all know that for most people owning your own car is impractical, expensive and, quite frankly, unnecessary. There will, however, always be those occasions when you just can’t do without. At Roomsurfer we’re all about sharing and that’s why we’ve put together a list of some of the most exciting new car-sharing solutions on the market in our two top cities: Berlin and Barcelona

Thinking of coming to Berlin? Now’s the time to do so. The Berlin Senate recently predicted that Berlin’s population is set to grow by a quarter of a million by 2030 and many of the newcomers will be young expats. Berlin is quickly becoming Europe’s coolest capital and luckily living here is still pretty affordable.
A popular choice among many young newcomers is to share a flat, which if you’re new in town is also a great way to meet new people. With this in mind, here at Roomsurfer we’ve put together some tips on how to find accommodation in Berlin. (more…)

In these years most of Europe is facing the plague of unemployment and many people, young and not-so-young, are moving to the only country that seems to be doing quite well: Germany. Still all of us expats in the Hauptstadt have one, big dragon we have to fight with: The Awful German Language, to use Mark Twain’s words!
So, even if chilling and enjoying Summer is a nice and respectable occupation, why not killing two birds with one stone and coming to Berlin to learn German and indulge in one of the most interesting European cities? Because, let’s face it, we all tried Memrise, Duolingo and stuff, we worked really hard for a couple of days, we got excited for remembering two words and then quit one week after. So, pack your bag and come to Berlin, you won’t regret it!

Sure, Berlin is a temple for techno lovers, a playground for creatives and artists and a must for startuppers. But did you know that the Hauptstadt, with its 38 Universities, is the German city with the largest concentration of universities and research institutions (thanks Wikipedia)? Another thing you might not know is that only last year Berlin has been named by Quacquarelli Symonds one of the best cities for students.
Because of this, and because of the fairly high percentage of foreign students in Berlin (around 15%), Roomsurfer decided to write a series of blog posts covering the most interesting Universities of the city. So, if you’re planning to move to Berlin (and not only to be cool and buy t-shirts), check out our guide to find some tips & tricks!
